Gig Bag for POD HD500?
by ericroyals on 2011-12-16 17:48:31

I've seen that there is a gig bag available for the POD HD400, but is there a gig bag designed to accomodate the POD HD500? If not yet, are there plans to make one available?

There are several suggestions for this. See the 'More Like This' panel immediately to the right of this message. You'll find ideas in those threads.

There probably isn't any need as the POD XT Live bag fits the HD500 perfectly

Gator makes a small keyboard bag that fits the hd500 perfectly. Has enough room for the pod and a couple of cables in the bag and there is a side pocket for the adapter and more accessories. Sells for around $30-35 at most stores. Well worth it!

I squeeze mine into the bag that I had for the X3L, also a Gator.  don't remember the model.  It's a bit tight depth-wise, but it does the trick.

I've been using a Gator GK2110 with the HD500 for about a year now, works perfectly.  Very rugged and protects just fine.  Just be sure to put the HD500 in the bag with the connectors toward the bag handle, that way when you sit it down it doesn't sit on the jacks.

Really? I have the Pod XT Live bag and I've just bought a Pod X3 Live bag. I can't even cram my new Pod HD 500 into either of them however hard I try. Both bags are a full few inches too short around the perimeter.

This would suggest to me that you don't actually have an X3 Bag then as if my memory serves me right, the X3 and the HD500 are the same length.

Also, I have a Line 6 X3 Bag for my HD500 and there is a couple of inches to spare inside.

Yes, according to Line 6 the Pod HD500 is the same length and only 0.29 inches deeper. I'm pretty certain it is the X3 Live Bag (98-030-0012), it came labelled as such.

Is it possible there's significant variation between bags sold at different dates or in different countries? Or perhaps just poor quality control? My bag does seem weirdly misshapen, it's hardly very rectangular.

It seems what I really need is the FG5 Bag (98-030-0052).

I've seen so many people say they have problems with the X3 Bag which doesn't make any sense as we have discussed they are exactly the same length with minimal variations on other dimensions so yeah, I'd say it's entirely possible there have been some variations somewhere along the production line or that some bags have simply been mislabled.

I guess I got lucky!

If you're considering a bag rather than a hard case, then the 1SKB-SC2111 is your huckleberry http://www.skbcases.com/music/products/proddetail.php?id=589&c=85&o=&s=75

It'salmost as if SKB made this bag specifically for the HD500.  The lengthwise fit is exact.  There is about .75" extra in the width, which is what you want in order to get the HD500 in and out, since this is more like a case than it is a bag.  The rigid EPS foam is going to provide a lot more protection around the perimeter than other carry bags out there.

The 1SKB-SC2311 will also work, but it's 1.5" longer (and also .50" narrower).  Personally, I prefer no side-to-side slop, but it's questionable as to how much sliding around the HD500 would do in the SC2311.  Either way, the SKB is a way better choice than Gator or RoadRunner (which both make good stuff) for the HD500.

The only problem with the 1SKB-SC2111 is that they're hard to get right now.  Everyone but Full Compass was back-ordered on them.

Well worth the money (and the wait, if necessary).

Same here for the Gator GK-2110; works like a charm, and the front pouch is great for the power cable, AES/EBU cable for L6 Link, Variax cable, etc.

I have the gig bag (bought over 6 years ago) for the PODXTLive with the black & white "Line 6" logo on it and it does not fit the HD500.

Maybe they've made it a bit bigger since when I got mine or maybe they have a generic one now.

I got my HD500 bag at AMS

I simply measured the HD500 (there was conflicting info about dimensions) and then picked the bag to fit.

I've had it almost 6 months, it's durable and has a nice pocket that runs the whole width of the bag unlike my Line 6 bag where the pocket is only about 80% of the width.
