HX Stomp Step Beyond
The HX Stomp™ amp and effects processor may be used as a “super stompbox,” a backup or travel rig, an add-on tone expander with other modelers, an audio interface—or a complete guitar or bass rig. Although compact in size, it delivers the same professional-grade sound quality and authentic HX® Modeling found in our market-leading Helix® processors.

HX CABS/IMPULSE RESPONSES
Helix cabinet models provide low-end reproduction and overall definition equivalent to a 2048-point impulse response (IR), and third-party impulse responses may also be loaded. A choice of 16 microphone models with adjustable distances provides additional flexibility.
Each stage of an amp’s circuitry is measured and the results matched to the original during the modeling process, ensuring realistic sound and an authentic playing experience.
HX Modeling technology captures the unique behavior of analog effects devices by measuring their individual components, resulting in authentic recreations of even notoriously difficult-to-model effects such as germanium fuzz and “bucket-brigade” analog delay pedals.
HX processors feature a clear interface that enables fast tone creation and easy interaction—all with a minimal learning curve and the elimination of complex menu diving.
Simply touch a footswitch to instantly jump to any block and quickly adjust a parameter or assign controllers. Color-coded LED rings convey footswitch assignments and status at a glance.
Snapshots enable you to create multiple variations within a single preset and seamlessly transition between them, without the audio dropouts that occur when switching between presets.
I/O LEVEL SHIFTING
A switchable line-level input enables keyboardists, DJs, and producers to connect electronic instruments or use HX products as outboard processors in the studio.
HX processors easily integrate into pedalboard and studio rigs thanks to their flexible routing capabilities. Internal routing includes parallel stereo signal paths, while inputs and outputs include stereo-linkable effects loops.
HX processors can serve as command centers for any rig. MIDI messages can be sent manually via footswitches (or an optional expression pedal), and up to six commands can be sent automatically at preset or snapshot recall. Even QWERTY hotkey commands can be sent via USB.
Switchable analog bypass routes signals at the input(s) directly to the output(s) without undergoing A/D/A conversion.
HX Edit features the same intuitive user interface as HX processors. Create complex signal chains with ease, adjust settings and parameters using dedicated sliders, customize footswitch labels, and more.
Powercab active guitar speaker systems were designed to provide an organic “amp-in-the-room” playing experience when paired with Helix, HX Stomp, or other amp modelers. Explore Powercab.
Here are just a few of the many ways to connect HX Stomp to other gear:
HYBRID AMP/DIRECT SETUP
This 2.4" (6cm) color LCD is your window into the power of HX Stomp.
Press to return to the main Home screen If you ever get lost. Press Home again to toggle between Play view and Edit view.
Press to open the Action panel for the selected block or menu. From Edit view, the Action panel lets you move, copy, paste, and clear blocks. Press Home and Action together to open the Save menu for renaming and saving changes to a preset. Press both buttons twice to quick save.
In Play view, turn to select a preset. Press to open the Preset List. In Edit view, turn to select a block for editing. Press to bypass/enable the selected block.
In Edit view, turn to select the model assigned to the current block. Press to open the Model List.
In Play view, press < Page or Page > to change footswitch modes. In Edit view, press to view more parameters for the selected block or menu. Press both < Page and Page > to dive deeper into HX Stomp. You'll find Controller Assign, Global Settings, and other menus.
Turn this knob to control the main output volume and headphone volume.
In Edit view, turn one of the three knobs below the main display to adjust the value of the parameter above it. Press the knob to reset the parameter value. If a rectangular button appears above a knob, press that knob to engage its function.
These capacitive-touch footswitches feature color LED rings that convey footswitch assignments and status at-a glance.
EXP 1/2, FS 4/5
An optional expression pedal can be connected here and assigned to control nearly any parameter or combination of parameters. Use a "Y" cable to connect two expression pedals or two footswitches.
INPUT L/MONO, RIGHT
Connect mono instruments or pedals to the L/Mono input. Connect stereo pedals, keyboards, synths, or modelers to the L/Mono and Right inputs.
OUTPUT L/MONO, RIGHT
Use unbalanced (TS) 1/4" cables to connect to other pedals, your amplifier, or FRFR speaker(s). Use balanced (TRS) 1/4" cables to connect to mixers, studio speakers, or any other device that accepts balanced mono input signals. When using only a single cable of either type, connect it to the Left/Mono 1/4" jack.
HX Stomp functions as a multi-channel 24-bit/96kHz audio interface for Mac® and PC, with DI, re-amping, and MIDI capabilities built in. HX Stomp can also record to an Apple® iPad® (with optional Apple Camera Connection Kit).
Connect the supplied DC-3 power supply here.
Just in case you ever stop playing for more than a few hours.
MIDI In, Out/Thru
Connect HX Stomp to your MIDI gear. HX Stomp sends and receives Program Change, Continuous Controller, and other MIDI messages.
Connect stereo headphones here and use the Volume knob to adjust the volume.
These 1/4" inputs and outputs can be used as standard effects loops for inserting pedals and other external devices into your signal chain, or as additional inputs and outputs when using 4-Cable Method and other alternative routing configurations.

One powerful pedal
Barely larger than many conventional pedals, HX Stomp features over 300 amps, cabs, and effects from Helix, M-Series, and legacy Line 6 products—up to six simultaneously. Three capacitive-sensing footswitches with color-coded LED rings facilitate easy preset selection and editing. Connect optional footswitches and expression pedals for even greater control, and integrate your favorite pedals into any preset’s signal path by patching them into the two effects loops. You can also dial in amps and effects, save and load presets, and much more with the free HX Edit application.
Backup or Travel Rig
Play the gig with a single stompbox
HX Stomp is both a complete backup solution and the ultimate travel rig. Go direct to FOH or to any backline amp with ease—even use 4-Cable Method. Access up to six amp, cab, effect, and IR blocks simultaneously, so you’ll never have to worry about getting the tones you need. You’ll even be able to lay down tracks in your hotel room after the show using the built-in audio interface.
Not just for guitarists.
HX Stomp offers a wealth of guitar tones in a tiny package—but there’s a lot there to like for bassists too. From stunning models of Acoustic 360 and Ampeg SVT heads to Mesa/Boogie Powerhouse and Sunn Coliseum cabs to effects such as the Musitronics Mu-Tron III and the Darkglass B7K Ultra—HX Stomp covers the bottom end. And this is flexible low end: Send your effected direct signal to the house while feeding a real amp, or create two entirely different signal paths for a dreamy bass tone that will still rattle the rafters.
Add some HX magic to your modeler.
Place the HX Stomp guitar pedal in the effects loop of your favorite third-party modeler or profiler, and you’ve instantly added over 70 amps and 200 effects to your palette, including classics such as the Fender Bassman, Bogner Uberschall, Klon Centaur, and Maestro Echoplex EP-3. The six processing blocks in HX Stomp run in addition to your device’s own DSP power, so you gain up to six more simultaneous amps and effects. And in many cases, you can sync presets, tempo, and other parameters using a single MIDI cable.
USB Audio Interface.
Record, re-amp, and more.
With a generous 123dB of dynamic range, HX Stomp doubles as an ultra-low noise DSP-powered USB audio interface, offering 24-bit/96kHz multi-channel audio—and MIDI connectivity—for Mac and Windows® computers. There’s also a flexible input impedance circuit for realistic amp and pedal response, and built-in DI and re-amping capabilities. Adding the optional Apple Camera Connection Kit enables you to record directly to your Apple iPhone or iPad.
